In June 1993, 439 CSS re-formed in Bagotville with new personnel, different aircraft and a new mandate as a Combat Support Squadron (439 CSS). 

Its mission - to provide direct support to 3e Escadre (Wing) Bagotville's two CF-18 Hornet squadrons, 425 and 433 ETAC. 

Its primary task is to provide Search & Rescue (SAR) capability with the relatively new CH-146 Griffin helicopter as well as conducting simulated target or aggressor style training to CF-18 Hornet aircrew using the venerable CT-133 Silver Star (50 years flying).
