Formed as a composite unit at Patricia Bay (Vancouver), British Columbia, on the tenth of January 1942 by amalgamating Western Air Command's Coast Artillery Co-operation Flight and Communications Flight, the unit added an Air-Sea Rescue Flight in November 1944 when it received two modified Hudson aircraft with airborne lifeboats. The squadron was disbanded on September 15, 1945.
