Formed as a Bomber Reconnaissance unit at Dartmouth, Nova Scotia on April 28, 1943. The squadron flew Digby and Canso aircraft on East Coast anti-submarine duty over the Gulf of St. Lawrence until disbanded at Yarmouth Nova Scotia on May 31, 1945.
