No. 164 Squadron

Formed as an Transport squadron at Moncton, New Brunswick on January 23, 1943. The Squadron flew Lodestar and Dakota aircraft on East Coast transport duty. It was the RCAF's premier transport squadron and the cornerstone of the peacetime Air Transport Command, in that is provided trained crews as the nucleus of other air transport units formed in both Canada and overseas. Retained on the peacetime establishment, it was reorganized on August 1, 1946 into two transport units, the squadron at Dartmouth becoming No. 426 Squadron and the detachement at Edmonton becoming No. 435 Squadron.
